Cultivate | Prayer

January 12, 2026

The sermon explored the life of Daniel and how his commitment to consistent prayer prepared him for his greatest test. When political rivals conspired against him, they couldn't find any fault in his character or work—the only thing they could attack was his devotion to God. Daniel's miraculous deliverance from the lions' den wasn't just about God's power in that moment; it was the result of years of faithful prayer practiced three times daily. Just as Jesus regularly withdrew to pray despite the pressures and demands around Him, we too need to cultivate prayer as a daily discipline. Prayer is simply communication with God—not a performance, but a conversation with the One who knows and loves us completely. This discipline equips us to face life's biggest challenges because we've been faithful in the small, daily moments of connection with our Father.

Takeaways:

• Prayer is a habit to cultivate, not just a crisis response. Both Daniel and Jesus made prayer a regular rhythm of their lives, withdrawing intentionally to connect with God before the pressure mounted.

• Use the ACTS model to guide your prayers: Adoration (praising God for who He is), Confession (acknowledging where we've fallen short), Thanksgiving (expressing gratitude for His blessings), and Supplication (bringing our requests to Him).

• Start small and stay consistent.

This week's challenge is to pray for just 5 minutes daily using the ACTS pattern, setting a reminder on your phone to help establish this life-changing habit. If Jesus needed to withdraw and pray regularly, how much more do we? Let's commit together to cultivating this essential discipline in our lives.
