This week's sermon explored the essential discipline of engaging with Scripture as our guide through an increasingly chaotic world. Just as a lamp in ancient times provided just enough light for the next step on a dark path, God's Word illuminates our immediate decisions and daily challenges. We discovered that Bible engagement is surging, especially among younger generations, and that now more than ever, we need the unshakable truth of Scripture to anchor us. The sermon reminded us that the Word always points to Jesus and that as we develop the daily habit of reading Scripture, we gain confidence for each next step God has for us—whether in parenting, work, relationships, or personal growth.

Takeaways:

• Apart from remaining in Jesus, we can accomplish nothing (John 15:5). Scripture is essential to maintaining that connection and bearing fruit in our lives.
• The Bible provides light for our next steps, not necessarily a spotlight on our entire future. God invites us to trust Him one day at a time, letting His Word guide each decision with confidence.
• Use the SOAP method to engage Scripture meaningfully: Scripture (write it out), Observation (note what stands out), Application (how does this apply today), and Prayer (pray the truth back to God).

This week, commit to just 5 minutes daily in God's Word. Start with the Gospel of John if you're new to Scripture reading. Let the Word begin to shape you, step by step, into the new creation God is calling you to be. Remember, human wisdom will fail, but the Word of the Lord endures forever.
