Cultivate | Worship
The sermon explored the profound truth that worship is far more than Sunday morning songs—it's about what receives our deepest devotion, loyalty, and attention throughout the week. Drawing from John 4:19-26, where Jesus meets the woman at the well, we discovered that true worship isn't confined to a specific place or moment, but rather encompasses our entire lives.
The sobering reality is that we become like what we worship. When we worship money, approval, comfort, or control, we slowly take on those characteristics—becoming anxious, performative, or shallow. But when we worship Jesus, giving Him our highest worth and deepest allegiance, He transforms us into His image: more loving, humble, courageous, and free.
Takeaways:
• Everyone worships something—the only question is what or who receives your ultimate devotion. Your choices, time, money, thoughts, and habits reveal what you're truly worshipping.
• Worship transcends location and happens in spirit and truth. Your car, your home, your workplace can be just as sacred a space for worship as our Sunday gathering when your heart is directed toward God.
• We become like what we worship over time. If Jesus has been receiving your worship for years, it will show in your character, your relationships, and the way you love others.
This week, I encourage you to honestly assess where your deepest admiration and loyalty are directed. Are there competing loves pulling your attention away from Jesus? Remember, He is the one speaking to you, saying "I am he"—the Messiah who changes everything.
