Exiles of Hope | Awe and Affection

Peter's four interconnected commands for believers: hope completely in Jesus, be holy in all behavior, live with reverent fear before God, and love one another earnestly.
These aren't burdensome obligations but the natural outworking of a hope rooted in Christ's resurrection. Peter reminds us that calling God "Father" doesn't eliminate His role as Judge—we must hold both realities in healthy tension. We've been ransomed by Christ's precious blood, freed from slavery to sin, and called into authentic community.
This means actively putting off malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander while craving God's presence like a newborn craves milk. Our spiritual maturity depends on what we're feeding our souls and how we're loving each other.
