Early Christians in Asia Minor, are called to live as cultural islands in our society—different, set apart, yet filled with hope. We need the path that the prophets and apostles have blazed for us through Scripture. 
Peter reminds us that the very suffering and challenges we face were foretold by the prophets, and that we are more privileged than they were because we live on this side of the cross. 
This perspective transforms how we live daily, anchoring our hope completely in Jesus while actively pursuing holiness in every area of our conduct.
