Fantastic Four | PEACE

December 15, 2025

The sermon explores how God brings peace to seemingly insignificant places and people, tracing Bethlehem's history from a place of heartache (Rachel's death) through redemption (Ruth and Boaz) to the birthplace of King David and ultimately Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. We will discover that true peace isn't merely the absence of bad things, but rather the presence of Jesus who steps into our brokenness and transforms it. Just as Jacob renamed his son from "Ben Oni" (Son of my sorrow) to "Benjamin" (Son of Strength), Jesus gives us new identities that aren't defined by our past pain, family history, or personal failures.

Takeaways:

• Peace is found IN the person of Jesus, not just in the absence of trouble. While the world offers trouble and suffering, Jesus has conquered the world and offers us peace grounded in relationship with Him.
• Your past doesn't define your future. Like Bethlehem—seemingly insignificant yet chosen by God—our backgrounds, family histories, or personal failures don't limit what God can do through us.
• Jesus redeems our stories of insignificance. Where we see "Son of my sorrow," Jesus speaks a new name over us through grace, transforming our identity before we've proven anything or earned it.

As we move closer to Christmas, I encourage you to reflect on where peace is missing in your life and invite Jesus to dwell there. What has defined you or made you feel insignificant that needs to be redeemed? Remember, it is found in Jesus alone—He offers you a new name and a transformed identity.

May you experience the peace that only the Prince of Peace can bring this Advent season.
