Meals with Jesus | Enacted Worship

The sermon explores the story of Martha and Mary in Luke 10:38-42, challenging us to examine how we connect with Jesus in worship. Through Martha's distracted business and Mary's focused presence, we discovered that worship is not about performance or doing things "the right way"—it's about giving our whole hearts to God and being transformed by that giving. Just as Abraham's first act of worship in Genesis 22 involved obedience, sacrifice, trust, and hope, our worship should encompass our entire lives, not just our Sunday morning songs. The message confronts our culture of distraction and invites us to prioritize intimacy with Jesus over the business that pulls us away from His presence.
Takeaways:
• Worship is more than music—it's choosing Jesus' presence over busyness and giving Him our undivided attention, just as Mary chose "the best part" by sitting at His feet.
• We each connect with Jesus differently (through words, service, quality time, giving, or His tangible presence), and God receives all authentic expressions of worship—there's no single "right way" to worship Him.
• True worship requires identifying and surrendering our distractions to Jesus, whether that's our phones, circumstances, worries, or anxieties, so we can offer Him our whole hearts and be transformed in the process.
As we move forward this week, ask yourself:
What am I holding back from Jesus?
What distraction is keeping me from undivided worship?
Let's commit to bringing our whole selves—our obedience, sacrifice, trust, and hope—to the King of kings.
