Risen | The Last Supper

March 30, 2026

The sermon explores the deep connection between the Passover celebration and Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. We examined how God's four "I will" promises to Israel in Exodus 6 (I will bring you out, I will rescue you, I will redeem you, I will take you as my people) were fulfilled through Christ's death and resurrection. Just as the Passover lamb's blood protected Israel from death, Jesus became our spotless Lamb whose precious blood delivers us from the bondage of sin. The cross isn't just a historical event—it's a personal invitation to each of us to receive forgiveness, redemption, and eternal belonging with God. When Jesus cried "It is finished" from the cross, He completed what we could never accomplish on our own.

Takeaways:

 • The cross is God's relentless pursuit of us—an invitation that addresses our deepest brokenness, sin, and heartache. It's THE answer for whatever feels unfinished or shattered in our lives today.
• Jesus deliberately paused before the fourth cup at the Last Supper, waiting to complete it on the cross. When He received the sour wine on a hyssop branch (the same branch used in the original Passover), He declared "It is completed," opening the kingdom to us.
• We cannot rescue ourselves from sin's bondage. Salvation is by grace through faith alone—a gift from God, not earned through our works. The old way of life no longer has to define us when Christ's blood covers us.

As we move through this Easter season, I encourage you to sit with this truth: the invitation is still open. Christ's finished work on the cross is sufficient for whatever you're carrying today. Will you receive His gift of grace afresh this week?
